Byron Buxton’s prodigious power was on full display Wednesday night as his three-run home run, measured at 479 feet, helped the Minnesota Twins secure a 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers.The towering shot, the second-longest in Major League Baseball this season, landed deep in the center field stands at Target Field.
The monster home run,off texas Rangers pitcher Jack Leiter in the third inning,was Buxton’s longest in his career. Only Mike Trout’s 484-foot blast for the Los Angeles Angels earlier this season surpasses it.
Before his home run heroics, Buxton also showcased his defensive skills with a diving catch against Marcus Semien, earning a standing ovation from the home crowd. Willi Castro contributed to the Twins’ offense with a two-run triple.
“That’s big boy status,” Buxton said of his home run. “I ain’t going to lie. I knew that was a good one.”
