Cameroon 2nd military power, behind Chad (GlobalFirepower)

According to a recent publication by Global Firepower (GFP), Cameroon occupies 104th place in the world in the annual ranking of military power of 145 states around the world. On the African continent, it ranks 19th, far behind the Egyptian, Algerian and South African leaders. However, within the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (Cemac), Cameroon ranks second, just behind Chad, which ranks 14th on the continent.

The GFP index (PowerIndex), which takes into account more than fifty indicators, gives Cameroon a score of 2.0599, on a scale where 00000 is considered perfect. In comparison, Chad scores 1.8607. This index evaluates, among other things, the number of soldiers, military equipment, vehicles, logistical capacities, financial resources and geographic location. According to the GFP report, Cameroon appears not to invest sufficiently in the defense sector, despite its advantageous geographical position and its significant military strength.

However, Cameroon’s score still remains far from that of the leaders of this ranking, with the United States leading the way with a score of 0.0699. Russia (0.0702) and China (0.0706) occupy second and third place respectively on the podium of this hierarchy of military power
