Cancer Cell Metastasis: How They Spread to New Fabrics
Cancer
Starting from a clinical case, a scientific survey retraces how tumor cells migrate, set up and feed in hostile environments, from the brain to the lungs. They make their own fatty acids, “educate” target organs, capture iron via lipocalin-2 and thwart oxidative stress. A tracks are emerging, inhibiting lipid synthesis to the Deferoxamine iron chelator, while antioxidants could paradoxically help cells during metastasis. Food could modulate these mechanisms, without anti-metastase diet to be prescribed for the moment.
