Democratic presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung has resigned as governor of Gyeonggi Province on the 25th.
Candidate Lee Jae-myung’s side announced on the afternoon of the 22nd that “Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, will resign after completing his duties as the governor of Gyeonggi Province by 24:00 on October 25.”
Accordingly, Candidate Jae-myung Lee will hold a resignation press conference at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office on the 25th, which also serves as a meeting with residents, and is expected to ask the residents for understanding about his mid-term resignation.
In the afternoon, he will preside at the last executive meeting and then visit the provincial council to submit his resignation letter.
A Democratic Party official said, “After resigning, I will register a preliminary candidate as soon as possible.”
