Kottayam: A man has been arrested in connection with the suicide of his wife after making a video call to her husband in Kanjirapally. Nasser, a native of Kanjirapally, was arrested. A search of phone records revealed that Nasser had mentally abused his wife, Anisha. He was arrested following this. The accused, who was produced in the Kanjirapally court, was remanded.

Aneesha, 21, died in July last year. Months after Aneesha’s death, Nasser’s father Rahmat Ali had lodged a complaint with the DGP and the Chief Minister against his arrest. The court was approached after no action was taken in this regard. Following this, the Kanjirapally DySP led the investigation. The police investigation, which focused on phone records, revealed the mental abuse.

The family says Nasser used to quarrel with Aneesha regularly and there were several cases against Nasser at Payyoli station. The family alleged that Aneesha had committed suicide out of remorse after the scandal started against her.

Aneesha’s body was found hanging from the ropes of the cradle after the baby was put to sleep in the cradle. Their marriage was not in the interest of Aneesha’s father Rahmat Ali. He had lodged a complaint alleging that his daughter had been abducted from his house in Elangatte, but the couple was allowed to marry.
