A CDU official in Baden-Württemberg is said to have withheld party funds for years. The CDU district association Württemberg-Hohenzollern confirmed a corresponding report in the “Stuttgarter Zeitung” (Saturday edition). In the Christian Democratic Workers’ Association (CDA) Württemberg-Hohenzollern, the party’s employee wing, party funds amounting to 17,000 euros were embezzled between 2017 and 2023, according to a statement from the district association. The official initially left a request unanswered.

The district association said the man had falsified bank statements and financial documents on a large scale. “This was the only way it was possible for the crime to remain undetected for a longer period of time,” the statement said. We are currently considering taking legal action against the man. The CDA accounts were blocked and the incident was reported to the state party, the federal party and the Bundestag.
According to the district association, an auditor will now determine the exact damage. The party’s internal processes and financial structure will be examined and adjusted if necessary “so that such fraudulent behavior can be largely ruled out in the future,” said the CDU district association.
