According to recent reports from Business Insider, an American economic media outlet, influential celebrities gathered at a charity event in Hong Kong on the 21st (local time). The main characters who gathered them are Hong Kong billionaire Adrian Cheung (45), chairman of K11 Group, and Natalia Vodianova (42), the first daughter-in-law of the LVMH Group, the world’s largest luxury goods company. Cheung is the third-generation successor of the Cheong family, one of Hong Kong’s three richest families, with assets worth $28.9 billion (about 39 trillion won). Vodianova was born in a slum in Russia and succeeded as a model before marrying Antoine Arnault, the eldest son of the LVMH group, in 2020 and is known as ‘Today’s Cinderella’.

The two teamed up for this event, which was held under the theme ‘A night of infinite hearts, a world where every child is happy.’ Cheung leads the WEMP Foundation, Hong Kong’s first non-profit organization that supports the mental health of disadvantaged children and families, while Vodianova also runs the Naked Heart Foundation, which supports children and families in need.

On this day, works by autistic artists were exhibited at the event. There was also a performance by Michelle Kim, a pianist from Korea who helps rehabilitate young offenders and the disabled in Hong Kong. The highlight of the event was the charity auction. An auction was held for works by artists representing modern art as well as items donated by luxury brands Chaumet and Versace. The most expensive item sold that day was a jeweled emerald shoulder dress by Versace. It was worn by actress Vanessa Hudgens and was bought by the owner for 2 million Hong Kong dollars (about 340 million won). In addition, most of the items were auctioned at high prices. This is because those who took part in the event were willing to open their wallets with the mindset that the money would be used for a good cause.

“We are overwhelmed by the overwhelming support we have received,” said Cheong. “Our belief in the power of collaboration has become even stronger.” He continued, “By joining forces, we can ensure meaningful change and create a society that prioritizes children’s happiness.”

Vodianova also said, “We are extremely grateful to all the donors, sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible. Together, we are a positive force to ensure that children get the support they need to realize their potential.”
