Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso: We crunched the cola of peace at Djanguinaba Barro

The first officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso (CCI-BF), met at the home of their honorary president, Djanguinaba Barro, on February 4, 2023. Under the aegis of Mahamadi Savadogo, president of the CCI-BF, the objective was to exchange and put an end to the differences between the actors of the business world.

It was a strong delegation of actors from the business world led by Mahamadi Savadogo who went to the home of Djanguinaba Barro, honorary president of the CCI-BF to discuss the problem that actors are currently experiencing, in order to find a solution. After a little over an hour of discussion behind closed doors, access to the room was granted to the press. To Djanguinaba Barro to affirm from the outset that this meeting had to be held because at the CCI-BF, “work is no longer being done as it should be».

The goal is for everyone’s business to thrive, he says, and for everyone to speak the same language. And there he rejoices because everyone gathered agreed to silence the differences and move forward, hand in hand. These decisions were symbolically recorded with cola. Indeed, the honorary president of the CCI-BF has split a white cola nut in two, one half in each hand, he asks the assembly if there is anyone who disagrees with the outcome of the meeting. No one spoke. “You see, it’s that everyone agrees,” he is satisfied. We are not unaware that the cola nut is a symbol of benevolence and holds an important place in the habits and customs of our society.

Peace and understanding between the actors

To hear Lassina Diawara, well known in the field of business, their sector can only do well if there is peace and understanding between the actors. They can therefore only rejoice in the outcome of the meeting because the cola of peace has been crunched. For him, it is necessary to “be a single Chamber of Commerce, to be a single private sector facing the State which sometimes needs us”. At the head of several companies in the fields of agro-food, transport, hotels and mineral water, Dianguinaba Barro was born in 1929 in Dieri in the commune of Orodara in Kénédougou. He was the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bobo-Dioulasso from 1986 to 2014. He is currently the honorary president of the CCI-BF and a member of the council of wise men from the private sector. He was elevated to the rank of Commander of the Order of the Stallion in 2018.
