China to Issue Government Bonds Worth 12 Billion Yuan in Hong Kong

BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) – Xinhua Finance, the economic media operated by Xinhua News Agency, reported that the Ministry of Finance of China (MOF) announced last Thursday (July 20) through its website that it will issue government bonds (T-Bond) worth 12 billion yuan (about 57.4 billion baht) in China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on August 2.

The ministry stated that this deal marks the second batch of yuan bonds to be issued this year. The issuance will be carried out through the Central Money Market Unit (CMU) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).

Previously, the ministry had announced its plan to issue government bonds worth 30 billion yuan in Hong Kong by 2023, divided into four tranches. This includes one tranche of 12 billion yuan and three tranches of 6 billion yuan. However, the value of the August bonds has now been increased to 12 billion yuan.
