China’s Outward Investment Abroad Increases Steadily in 2023

BEIJING, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) — China’s outward investment abroad increased steadily last year, according to the Ministry of Commerce. China’s foreign direct investment (non-monetary) (ODI) increased 16.7 percent year on year to reach 916 billion yuan (about 4.62 trillion baht) in 2023.

When measured in US dollars Direct investment abroad during the same period amounted to US $ 130 billion (about 4.68 trillion baht), an increase of 11.4 percent from the previous year. Total (non-monetary) investment in Belt and Road countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 224 billion yuan (about 11.31 trillion baht) in 2023, up 28.4 percent year on year.

The ministry said that the trading volume of various contract projects Foreign spending increased by 8.8 percent year on year, reaching 1.13 trillion yuan (about 5.71 trillion baht) in 2023.
