Christian Bassogog returns to Europe to relaunch his career

Christian Bassogog, the talented 28-year-old Cameroonian winger, is making his comeback on the European continent after seven seasons spent in China.

Free after a three-year lease at Shanghai Shenhua, the 44-time capped player with the Indomitable Lions chose to sign for the Turkish first division club, MKE Ankaragücü.

Best player of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, Bassogog did not have the expected success and even lost his place in the national team. This transfer therefore represents a golden opportunity for him to relaunch his career in Europe, where he had already played successfully between 2015 and 2017 in Denmark, at AaB Aalborg.

By joining Ankaragücü, Bassogog also finds his compatriot Achille Webo, who serves as the club’s assistant coach. This familiarity could be a valuable asset for the player to quickly adapt and excel in this new environment.

The player has signed up for a season and a half with the Turkish club, currently ranked 11th in the championship. Although probably too tight to start this Sunday at Konyaspor, he should take his first steps in his new colors the following Sunday, February 18, when they host Galatasaray, one of the most legendary clubs in Turkey.

This new European chapter in Christian Bassogog’s career promises to be a real challenge, but also a fantastic opportunity to regain his form and shine again on the pitches of the Old Continent. Let’s hope that this return is crowned with success and that the talented Cameroonian winger can regain his place within the national team, to the delight of the supporters.
