Chun Doo-hwan’s wife, Lee Soon-ja, came to pay condolences to the late Roh Tae-woo’s mortuary today, but left without a word.

As the government decided on the head of state, an incense burner was installed in Seoul Plaza, but some areas, including Gwangju, did not set up incense burners or display flags.

“President Chun Doo-hwan said he was sorry that he couldn’t come with him because he was not in good health… Talk about the old days and talk about his military service…”

As soon as Mr. Lee came out of the hospital, reporters rushed in.

“(What did you say)…(Are you not going to apologize among the 5.18 victims?)…(Jeon Jae-guk, Lee Soon-ja!)”

Lee left the scene in a car surrounded by three bodyguards without answering anything with an expressionless face.

Kim Hyun-cheol, the second son of the late former President Kim Young-sam, also visited the funeral home.

“The decision to join the three parties with President Kim Young-sam was practically a bloodless revolution that allowed political development without shedding a drop of blood…”

Incense burners are operating from today in Seoul, Daegu, Gyeongbuk, Busan, and Chungbuk.

The incense burner here, which has been set up since 9 am, is generally quiet.

“I still remember vividly. I was told that I would do a direct system… I didn’t get paid for that day at the coffee shop.”

On one side of the square, a picket protest was held saying, “I am against Roh Tae-woo, a key force in the new military, and the head of state.”

Gwangju Metropolitan City, Jeollanam-do and Jeonbuk-do, and Chungnam and Sejong-si have decided not to set up incense burners and hoist them early.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said it would not encourage public institutions or local governments to set up early hoisting and incense burners.

The funeral ceremony will be held on the 30th at the Peace Plaza in Seoul Olympic Park.
