CNN is reviewing the identity of a man featured in a recent report on the Syrian civil war after new information emerged casting doubt on his story.
The network aired footage on December 11th showing correspondent Clarissa Ward interviewing a man who claimed to be Adel Ghurbal, a civilian from Homs imprisoned for three months by syrian forces. The interview took place inside a former Syrian Air Force intelligence prison, recently emptied after the fall of the Assad regime.

Stories take unexpected turns. We have to continue to report them without fear or favor, but it is immensely challenging in this surroundings and I think we need to be transparent about that.”
