Coach Paulo Bento of the Korean national football team has announced that he will prepare for the upcoming June evaluation in the best way. During the same period, he said that he would thoroughly analyze Ghana, the group stage opponent of the World Cup, where he will play an evaluation match against Japan.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Korea Football Center in Cheonan on the 29th. The Soccer Comprehensive Center, which will become the new home of Korean football, will be built around 120 Gasan-ri, Ipang-myeon, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, and will be completed in the first half of 2024.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by KFA President Chung Mong-gyu, Bento national team coach, Hwang Seon-hong, U-23 national team coach, and former World Cup team leaders Kim Jeong-nam and Lee Hoe-taek.

After the event, coach Bento met with reporters and talked about his feelings about the new soccer center and the preparation process for the A match in June.

Bento said, “I think we have taken an important first step for the future of Korean football. It will help the players to stay in good shape and develop their skills. It is undoubtedly an important day for the development of Korean football.”

Korea, which is now entering full-scale World Cup mode, is promoting evaluation matches with South American powerhouses such as Brazil and Argentina in June. They will play an evaluation match against Ghana and Japan, who are in the same group as Korea. For Korea, this Gyeonggi-do should be kept an eye on. “We plan to analyze the opponents who will face the World Cup in the best way,” Bento said. We will directly watch (Ghana’s match) and perform video analysis as well. Before going to the World Cup, we plan to get enough information about our opponents in the same group (Portugal, Uruguay and Ghana),” he said.

However, coach Bento expressed his view that there were also difficulties. June is a time when the overseas players who form the main axis of the offensive line, such as Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) and Ui-Jo Hwang (Bordeaux), are tired because they have just finished a long season.

Bento said, “It seems that there will be difficulties in preparing for the 4th match in June due to various factors. Of course, it is also because the opponent is strong. Since it is a four-game match, there is not enough time to prepare, and there is also the reason that players playing in Europe are physically in a difficult state.”

“But, as we have done so far, we will prepare for four games in the best way possible while adapting well to this situation.”
