Coach Seung-Yeop Lee Emphasizes the Importance of Adapting to ABS in Professional Baseball

ABS, the automatic pitch judging system newly introduced to professional baseball this season. While players and managers continue to complain about the perceived change in the strike zone, Doosan Bears coach Seung-Yeop Lee chimed in with a different voice.

Coach Lee raised the story about ABS when meeting reporters before the match against the Samsung Lions held in Jamsil yesterday.

He expressed his thoughts while talking to reporters that former midfielder Kim Jae-ho, who was called up from the second team to the first team that day, needed an adjustment period to the ABS zone.

Coach Lee asked, “Is there an adjustment period needed?” and added, “If you can’t hit, you can’t hit.”

Coach Lee said, “It is not a matter of adaptation, but the results must be recognized quickly If the hitter does not recognize ABS, concern or resistance will arise,” and “There is nothing good about it. ”

“Everyone knows that the strike zone is different from last year, but if there is opposition or negative thoughts about that, only the player himself will suffer.”

Coach Lee said, “It’s better to think positively,” and emphasized, “Some players are obviously having a hard time because of the ABS zone, but this must be recognized quickly.”

Previously, LG Twins coach Yeom Kyung-yeop also expressed his position, saying, “I think ABS itself is better than the current referees in terms of fairness and equity.”

On the other hand, Lotte Giants coach Kim Tae-hyung said early in the season, “Honestly, I can’t believe it,” revealing conflicting opinions even among the coaches.
