Prime Minister​ Shehbaz ⁤Sharif has convened a⁣ meeting of ⁢the federal cabinet to approve the draft constitutional amendments, which will later be presented⁣ in ⁤the National Assembly session.

Coalition Parties⁣ Unite⁤ in⁢ Support of ‍Constitutional ⁤Amendments

Last night, a dinner was organized in honor of PML-N and its allied parties, including MQM, BAP, and the ⁣National Party, at the⁤ Prime Minister’s​ office. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar briefed ‍the attendees on the proposed‌ constitutional amendments, which include the establishment of a ⁣constitutional court within the Supreme Court.

Constitutional Court to Address Public Interest Cases

The⁣ proposed constitutional court will have five members, who will hear cases related to the interpretation of the ⁢Constitution and other constitutional matters. This move aims to reduce​ the burden of constitutional and public interest cases on the Supreme Court.

Judicial ⁢Reforms and Tenure of Supreme Court Judges

The government⁤ has‌ proposed extending the tenure of Supreme Court judges and establishing a Constitutional Court to reform the judiciary and various constitutional institutions. The amendment also⁢ includes proposals ⁣for the appointment of the Chief Justice and the inclusion of members of the Parliamentary Committee‌ in the ‌Judicial Commission.

Government Claims Two-Thirds ⁣Majority for Amendment

The government claims to have a two-thirds majority, which is necessary to pass the constitutional⁢ amendment. The amendment aims to remove loopholes left in the Fourteenth Amendment and reform the judiciary​ and constitutional institutions.

PPP and JUI-F⁤ Leaders Meet to Discuss Constitutional‍ Amendments

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with​ JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss the proposed constitutional amendments. The PPP delegation included⁢ Ijaz Jakhrani and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
