Thiruvananthapuram – The CPM Secretariat said that it was decided to take the body of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan from Chennai directly to Thalassery and then to Kannur on the advice of doctors to avoid a long journey.
The state secretariat has explained the matter without stating directly that Kodiyeri, who was a minister and state secretary of CPM, has been denied the opportunity to pay his last respects in the capital in the context of criticism from many quarters. State Secretary MV Govindan had also explained this at the memorial meeting in the capital. Party members were also surprised that Kodiyeri’s physical body was not brought to public view at the AKG Center in Thiruvananthapuram, which became Kodiyeri’s karma vandal for half a century.
He informed the party that a prolonged illness had affected Kodiyeri’s body and that is why the doctors advised him to avoid a long journey after his death.
