Cupra, a sub-brand of Spanish carmaker SEAT, is planning to launch an SUV called “Tiguan with teeth”.

The two new cars prepared by SEAT are the Tavascan, a slightly more macho reinterpretation of the Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV, and the other is the Terrama SUV, previewed at the Unstoppable Impulse event two years ago (Terramar) .

Terramar is named after Sitges-Terramar, a historic racing circuit in Barcelona, Spain, but the engineering is led by Wolfsburg, Germany.

Terrama is an SUV that corresponds to the Volkswagen Tiguan and shares the MQB platform and driving equipment with Volkswagen. Audi’s upcoming Q3 will also be part of this mix and the Terrama will be produced at Audi’s Gyor plant in Hungary.

The 4.5 meter long Terrama has a more powerful and dynamic appearance than the Tiguan, with a much more aggressive nose with a large grille, pointed headlights and a traditional bonnet with muscular creases.

Terrama is equipped with the same 1.5- and 2.0-liter inline-4 engines as the Tiguan. Furthermore, some will be equipped with mild hybrid and others will be equipped with plug-in hybrid.

The hybrid uses 201 horsepower and 268 horsepower plug-in e-hybrids and is each equipped with a 19.7 kWh battery, so you can expect an electric driving range of around 100 km. All-wheel drive is optional, but the transmission comes standard with a 7-speed dual-clutch.
