Minister Bindu made this statement during a one-day workshop organized for university representatives at IMG, ahead of the commencement of the new four-year undergraduate program.
Valayar Medical Admission: A Future Possibility
New Delhi: The Palakkad Institute of Medicine in Valayar has expressed its hopes to offer medical admissions next year. In response to the increasing demand for medical seats, the college has suggested a practical solution to the Supreme Court. The proposal includes a population-based policy of granting 10 lakh medical seats to each state, regulated by the National Medical Commission. In case the seat limits are exceeded, the surplus students will be redirected to Kerala for admission in the following year. However, the college has raised concerns about the feasibility of accommodating these additional students. The matter is currently under review, with Councilor Zulfikar Ali presenting the case and Justice BR Gavai presiding over the bench. Further discussions will take place tomorrow between the Medical Commission and the State Government.
