Cyclone: ​​Heavy rains in North Kerala; Kozhikode and Thrissur are likely to experience strong winds and thundershowers in six districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Over the next three hours in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The cyclone along the Tamil Nadu coast has caused heavy rainfall in the state. The Met Office said the rains would continue till Wednesday.

The Matathur Vellikulam overflowed with a large stream and poovali and flooded many houses. The family was evacuated. Shops near Varantharappilly Kurudipalam were flooded. About 300 chicks died when water flooded into a poultry farm in Chalakudy. In Thrissur East Pattukara, the wall collapsed and cracks fell on 2 houses.

Kozhikode is also receiving heavy rains. The rains caused floods in many parts of the city. Houses were flooded in parts of Chevayur and Vellayil. Heavy rains disrupted traffic in many parts of the city. The rain which started at 7.30 pm is still continuing. The shops in Mukteshwar were flooded. The floods are also severe in Choolur.

Heavy rains will continue in the state tomorrow. Yellow alert in six districts tomorrow. Yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. Chance of isolated heavy rain with thunder. An orange alert was declared in Idukki on Monday. Yellow alert will be issued in Pathanamthitta and districts north of Palakkad.
