Kozhikode: Her husband Mehnaz has sought anticipatory bail in the mysterious death of Rifa Mehno, a Malayalee vlogger in a Dubai flat. A lookout notice was issued against him. Mehnaz then approached the high court seeking anticipatory bail.

Mehnaz’s application will be heard by the High Court on the 20th of this month.

Earlier, the probe team had issued a lookout notice after he was asked to appear for questioning but failed to appear. The investigation team estimates that Rifa’s post-mortem report and chemical test results will be available the next day.

The Thamarassery DySP and his team visited Mehnaz’s house in Kasargod yesterday after the family members lodged a complaint alleging suspicion in the death of Vlogger Rifa. The investigation team met with family and friends in person, but could not find Mehnas. Mehnaz was given time to reach Kozhikode by Thursday and appear before the probe team.

But Mehnaz, who left after the festival, was told by her parents that she had not yet returned. Mehnaz is currently being prosecuted for inciting suicide.

Although Mehnaz did not leave the country, the investigation team concluded that he had crossed the state border. The body was exhumed and post-mortemed three months later following a complaint by Rifa’s parents over the mysterious death.

Rifa Mehnu was found hanged on March 1 in her flat in Jafili, Dubai. The body was first found by her husband, who had gone out with friends and returned. The body was then brought home and immediately buried. Later, when Mehnaz started behaving abnormally, his family became suspicious.
