Give the Gift of Life This December: Blood Donations Double in Impact
This holiday season, the French Blood Establishment (EFS) Occitanie and the Enfants Cancers Santé Occitanie association are teaming up for a special initiative called “December solidarity.” From December 16th to 29th, every blood donation in Occitanie will have double the impact.
For each person who donates blood at one of the 13 EFS donation centers or 100 collection points across the region, the EFS will donate €1 to Enfants Cancers Santé. This means that every act of generosity will not only help save lives but also contribute to vital research for children battling cancer.
“For every donor who presents themselves between December 16th and 29th at one of our locations,we will donate €1 to the association,” says Laurent Bardiaux,director of EFS Occitanie. “The funds raised will be entirely dedicated to supporting research institutes working on new treatment protocols for pediatric cancers.”
Professor Anne Laprie, an Oncologist radiotherapist specializing in pediatric oncology, highlights the crucial role donations play in advancing research. “Thanks to the donations received by Enfants Cancers Santé, my team’s work, conducted in collaboration with all pediatric onco-radiotherapists in France, has been considerably supported,” she explains. “This financial aid has enabled us to prepare a project that will utilize artificial intelligence to better understand the mechanisms of cancer relapse. It’s a tremendous help to our research on childhood brain tumors.”
With blood reserves often strained during the holiday season due to vacations, festivities, and winter illnesses, this partnership aims to mobilize the Occitanie community.
“By joining forces with Enfants Cancers Santé, we hope to encourage citizens to donate blood and spread a message of hope for children fighting cancer,” adds Bardiaux.
