Bernedoodle Breeder Gavin Stone Praises Decoy’s Intelligence
Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani’s dog, Decoy, recently made headlines with a surprise opening pitch that left everyone in awe. The talented canine’s performance was even praised by fellow dog lover and pitcher Gavin Stone, who said, “Decoy is definitely smarter than my dog.”
On August 28th, Ohtani and Decoy took to the field for a special opening pitch, where Decoy threw a strike with ease. The crowd erupted in cheers as the duo showcased their unique bond and skills. The event coincided with the distribution of their bobbleheads, making it a memorable day for fans.
Gavin Stone, who has been raising a Bernedoodle named Mortley for the past year and a half, also shared his admiration for Decoy’s intelligence. Mortley, a mix of Bernese Mountain Dog and Standard Poodle, is known for being well-behaved and not soiling in the house. Stone’s girlfriend, Cantrell, takes care of Mortley while he’s on the road.
When asked about the possibility of Mortley making a similar appearance, Stone said, “It would be great if that were to happen, but I don’t know. He’s not as famous as Decoy.” Despite Decoy’s success, Stone expressed his doubts about Mortley’s ability to replicate the feat, saying, “I have no confidence at all (even if I trained).”
Decoy’s impressive performance has set the bar high for future opening pitches, and fans are eagerly waiting to see if Mortley or any other talented canine will follow in his paw-steps.
