Denmark’s Nordstream 2 gas pipeline stopped the leak

“Gas pipeline operator reveals gas pipeline pressure stabilized”

The Danish government announced on the 27th (local time) that gas leaking from the damaged Nordstream-2 gas pipeline had stopped on the 1st.

According to the Associated Press, the Danish Energy Agency said on Twitter that day, “Nordstream AG, the operator of the Nordstream gas pipeline, has informed that the pressure on the Nordstream-2 gas pipeline has stabilized.”

“This means that the gas leak has stopped in the pipeline,” said the Danish Energy Agency.

On the 26th and 27th of last month, three gas pipelines, Northstream-1 and Northstream-2, passing through the seabed in Denmark and Sweden’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), leaked one on after the other.

Since then, a total of four leaks, including one additional spill point, have caused large quantities of gas to be ejected into the sea, raising concerns about safety accidents and environmental damage.

Northstream-2 is a 1,230km long gas pipeline from Russia to the German coast via the Baltic Sea.

According to Danish media, the leak in the Northstream-1 gas pipeline is also getting weaker.

The diameter of the huge bubble seen on the sea surface above the point where the Northstream-1 gas pipeline leak occurred reached 900m to 1km on the 26th of last month, but decreased to 600m on the 30th of last month.

Investigative agencies in the Nordic countries are investigating a gas pipe leak as a result of a major explosion.

Russia and the West are in a war of nerves, holding each other accountable for the leak.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of occupied territories in Ukraine on the 30th of last month, calling the leak a “Western Anglo-Saxon terror”.

US President Joe Biden dismissed Putin’s claims as fraudulent.

“Russia is now pouring fake news and lies,” Biden said.
