‘Disco Elysium’ Mobile arrives on Android; New RPGs in Progress

The acclaimed RPG Disco Elysium is coming to Android devices on Aug. 5. ZA/UM Studio’s “reimagined” mobile version offers the first two chapters for free, allowing players to sample the game before purchasing.
The game centers on an amnesiac, alcoholic detective solving a murder while grappling with an existential crisis. The mobile adaptation shifts from isometric gameplay to a visual novel style, featuring bold 2D artwork and dialog options designed for shorter play sessions.
The full Android version of Disco Elysium will cost $9.99. ZA/UM studio head Denis Havel previously stated the mobile version aims to “captivate the TikTok user with quick hits of compelling story, art, and audio.”
ZA/UM is also developing a new RPG, C4, described as a mix of espionage thriller and psychedelic sci-fi.
Several former ZA/UM developers have formed new studios and are working on games similar to Disco Elysium. These include:
- Longdue,developing a “psychogeographic RPG” called Hopetown.
- Dark Math Games, creating a detective RPG titled XXX Nightshift.
