Discovered a new vulnerability

Phu Khanh railway leaders said they have found a plan to overcome the landslide in Bai Gio tunnel (Khanh Hoa). It is expected that workers will take about 3-4 days to clear the North-South railway line.

On April 14, Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of Phu Khanh Railway Operation Branch, said that the unit had just discovered a new hole located outside, above the landslide point in Bai Gio tunnel, in Dai Lanh commune. , Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province.

From this hole, the construction unit will conduct geological exploration drilling to find empty land due to landslides in recent days. Inside the tunnel, the contractor arranged 2 concrete spraying teams at the landslide location to keep the footing and prevent fluctuations.

“After finding the hollow ground, the construction unit will spray concrete to freeze the soil and rock in the surrounding area, to prevent further landslides from occurring. Time for concrete to harden It took about 8 hours, after which the department in the tunnel reinforced the tunnel shell,” Mr. Vinh said.

Director of Phu Khanh Railway Operation Branch said that according to calculations, the above steps will take 3-4 days to complete and open the north-south railway line.

Currently, Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch still transfers passengers between Gia station (Khanh Hoa) and Tuy Hoa station (Phu Yen province).

Particularly, freight trains are still temporarily suspending their journeys at stations in Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen provinces.

Like Dan tri It was reported that on April 12 and 13, a landslide occurred at the Bai Gio tunnel with a total volume of more than 200m3, paralyzing the North-South railway section passing through the two provinces of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa.

Bai Gio tunnel was built in 1930 and put into use in 1936. Before the landslide, the construction unit of Bai Gio tunnel reinforced waterproofing layers, steel frames and sprayed concrete on the tunnel shell. Construction was underway when a landslide occurred.

Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of Phu Khanh Railway Operation Branch, denied that landslides were caused by the construction process of the Bai Gio tunnel reinforcement project. The cause of the landslide is that the soil and rock layers above the tunnel lining have weathered for a long time and then fall freely.

The railway industry worked with the Traffic Police of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces to prohibit all trucks from traveling on Deo Ca road to reduce pressure on the tunnel lining.
