The Centre for Health Protection said today that it is investigating a preliminary confirmed imported case of the new coronavirus involving the L452R variant virus. The case involved a 23-year-old male patient who went to the United States on November 14 and tested negative for the virus on November 13 before leaving Hong Kong. He arrived in Hong Kong via flight CX521 from the United States on November 20 and was in Hong Kong International when he arrived. The airport temporary sample collection center tested positive and developed symptoms. The patient’s CT value is less than 30. He received two doses of Fubitel Covid-19 vaccine in Hong Kong on April 27 and May 18.

As the patient had lived in Hong Kong during the incubation period and was carrying a variant virus, the government tonight announced that the patient would be restricted and tested at Yuhui Court, Discovery Bay, Lantau Island, where the patient lived. At the same time, the places he visits in Hong Kong during the incubation period will also be included in the mandatory testing announcement.
