Monterrey, Mexico – A woman involved in a pedestrian collision on Paseo de los Leones Avenue in Monterrey on Monday has been released from custody, according to reports from February 11, 2026. The incident occurred in the afternoon and involved a 25-year-old woman, identified as Hortensia Guardado Sánchez, who reportedly stepped into the path of a vehicle driven by Karla, a 46-year-old woman.
Authorities were informed at the scene that Guardado Sánchez suffers from a mental health disorder, according to her parents who arrived shortly after the collision. The driver, Karla, was initially detained but was released approximately 24 hours after the incident.
The collision prompted a response from local authorities and medical personnel. This incident comes amid other recent traffic incidents reported in the Monterey area. A 23-year-old woman driving an SUV was ejected from the vehicle after it crashed into a power pole and rolled on River Road north of Gonzalez River Road, south of Salinas, and west of U.S. Highway 101.
