Kuwait City: The Minister of Health said that prevention is better than treatment in the drug issue. Khalid Al Saeed. The Minister of Health was inaugurating a symposium on Islamic Medicine in the fight against drugs organized by the Islamic Institute of Medical Sciences (IOMS). He added that the symposium was of great importance and had been organized at the right time in the context of rampant drug abuse in society.

Highlighting the Home Ministry’s ongoing efforts against drug addiction, the Minister said that the Health Ministry is studying the matter carefully to deal with the cases and is trying to create awareness among youth and adults. Appreciating the work of the Islamic Institute for Medical Sciences, the minister also spoke about the importance of a religious perspective in reducing drug abuse.

IOMS chief Dr. Khalid Al Jarallah drew attention to the fact. He highlighted the importance of the crucial role of Islamic forums in the matter. It was also pointed out that he would address the heads of Islamic countries and Arab and Gulf organizations to prioritize the fight against drugs. He said that the country’s ministries and local organizations are working together against drug addiction and that the security personnel play a major role in this and he asked the National Assembly to enact strict legislation to deal with drug addiction.
