A man in his 30s, who was found guilty of drunk driving, has been handed a fine by Chief Judge Cho Soo-yeon at the Cheongju District Court.

On the 2nd of this month, Chief Judge Cho Soo-yeon, presiding over the Cheongju District Court, announced the verdict against a 37-year-old perpetrator, referred to as Mr. A. The defendant had been charged under the Road Traffic Act for operating a vehicle while under the influence. The court imposed a fine of 5 million won on Mr. A.

The incident took place in July of last year, when Mr. A allegedly drove his vehicle approximately one meter while inebriated (with a blood alcohol level of 0.125%) in an alley in Jincheon-gun during the early morning hours.

During the trial, Mr. A contended that while attempting to activate the air conditioner, he unintentionally activated the reverse gear, leading to the vehicle’s movement. However, the court did not accept his explanation.

Chief Judge Cho remarked, “For the vehicle to move in reverse, the side brake must be disengaged and the reverse gear engaged. Taking into consideration the very short distance covered and the lack of active driving behavior, we have made our decision.”

A drunk driver in his 30s who claimed his vehicle moved by mistake has been sentenced to a fine.

On the 2nd, Chief Judge Cho Soo-yeon, the sole offender of the Cheongju District Court, announced that he had sentenced Mr A (37), who was charged with drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act, to a fine of 5 won a million.

Mr. A is accused of driving his car about 1 meter while drunk (blood alcohol level 0.125%) in an alley in Jincheon-gun early in the morning in July last year.

During the case, Mr. And, when he started the engine to turn on the air conditioner, he accidentally touched the reverse gear, causing the vehicle to move. But the court did not accept his argument.

Chief Judge Cho said, “There is no way the vehicle would have moved backwards unless the side brake was released and the reverse gear was engaged. We took into account the fact that the driving distance was very short and the driving behavior was not active. “
