Drunken Teacher Causes Fatal Accident: Hit 5 Cars, Fled, Caught by Police

A teacher in his 50s who crashed into five vehicles in succession while driving drunk and ran away has been caught by police.

The Yangju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that they are arresting and investigating Mr. A, a man in his 50s, suspected of causing the death while intoxicated.

Mr. A is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol for a distance of 20 km from Sanggye-dong, Seoul to Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do this morning, hitting five vehicles and fleeing.

The police who responded after receiving the complaint issued a stop order, but Mr. A did not respond and ran away, hitting a telephone pole and stopping around 7 am in Bongyang-dong, Yangju-si.

It was reported that Mr A’s blood alcohol level at the time of the accident was at a level that would have resulted in his license being revoked.

It was confirmed that Mr. A is a current teacher belonging to the Gyeonggi Provincial Education Bureau.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances.
