Egypt warned it will take all legally recognized steps to safeguard its national interests as disputes escalate over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile. Addressing the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed that the river transcends mere financial value, describing it as an essential artery fundamentally linked to the survival and heritage of the Egyptian populace.

Cairo retains its lawful entitlement, sanctioned by international law and the UN Charter, to defend its water security and protect the fundamental interests of its citizens, as stated in an official publication by Egypt’s State Information Service.
