JAKARTA, Indonesia – A BYD electric taxi collided⁤ with a Toyota Alphard near Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta ‍International Airport ⁢(Soetta) on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Police attribute the accident to a lapse in ⁢concentration by the taxi driver.

AKBP ronald Sipayung, Chief of Police for Soetta Airport City,‍ stated that the Traffic Accident Unit⁤ instantly responded to the scene. Both drivers and their vehicles were taken ⁣to the Soetta Airport ⁢police station.

“The situation has been handled. Both vehicles and drivers are at the airport ⁤police station,” Sipayung confirmed.

No Injuries Reported

Sipayung confirmed that⁤ no injuries resulted from the collision. Though, ‍both⁢ vehicles ⁣sustained material damage.

“There were material ⁣losses, but⁢ no injuries,” he said.

AKP⁢ Noach Hendrik, Head of Traffic Police for Soetta Airport⁣ City, provided further details. He‍ said the accident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time on Jalan P-2, near the Terminal 3 departure area.

“The preliminary cause appears to be a lack of concentration, possibly micro-sleep, on the part of the BYD ‍ME-7 minibus driver, plate number B-XXX-XX,” Hendrik stated.

Hendrik explained that ‍the BYD, driven ‍by a person identified as PY, was ⁣exiting Terminal 3 when the incident occurred. Allegedly, ⁤PY failed to notice⁣ the slower-moving ⁣Alphard ahead while descending a⁤ ramp.

“Due to the close proximity and excessive speed, the BYD minibus driver was unable to ⁣brake in time, resulting in a collision with the rear of the Toyota Alphard minibus,” Hendrik said.

Vehicle Damage

Both vehicles sustained damage⁢ in the accident. The BYD ME-7 suffered damage to its ⁣front end, ⁣while the Toyota Alphard sustained damage‍ to its rear bumper.

“The front of the BYD ME-7 minibus was wrecked. The rear bumper of the Toyota Alphard minibus, plate number B-XXXX-XXX, was damaged,” hendrik elaborated.
