The victim, found drenched in blood and bearing bite marks all over her body, is currently in critical condition. Authorities have apprehended two individuals in connection with the heinous crime, and shockingly, one of the accused is an employee of the Goshala run by the temple management committee.

“On Friday morning, we received intelligence that the girl had been found. Subsequent investigation confirmed the rape. Two suspects are now under arrest and are being interrogated. Comprehensive medical examinations have been conducted on them. The victim will be transferred to Reva Medical College for specialized treatment,” shared Lokesh Dabar, Maihar Divisional Police Officer.

The dense woodland near the temple premises in Maihar, frequented by pilgrims from various parts of the country, is where the girl was discovered. Her disappearance was reported by her family on Thursday night. Worried by her prolonged absence, the family promptly alerted the police, who immediately initiated a search. The forest lies within a kilometer radius of the girl’s residence.

Fortunately, the girl was located by her family and subsequently admitted to Myhar Civil Hospital for immediate medical attention. The news of the incident swiftly spread, prompting outraged villagers to flock to the hospital in protest. The authorities faced considerable difficulty in controlling the agitated crowd. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has issued strict orders to take decisive action against the culprits and ensure the victim receives the highest quality of care.
