Elkton Murder Suspect Arrested in New York City
ELKTON, MD – A man accused of fatally shooting a customer during a drug deal last month in Elkton is awaiting extradition from New York City, according to the Elkton Police Department.
“He is scheduled to be extradited back here next week,” EPD Lt. Ronald Odom, who serves as an agency detective and spokesman, reported on tuesday.
The suspect,identified as [Suspect’s full Name],is accused of killing Daryl Rozenski on a Hollingsworth Manor street in the early morning hours of November 2nd. Police allege that [Suspect’s Full Name] shot and robbed Rozenski during a purported drug transaction.
Following the shooting, Rozenski attempted to drive away but lost consciousness and crashed his vehicle into a pole and fence in the back section of the Hollingsworth manor neighborhood.
First responders, unaware of Rozenski’s gunshot wound, transported him to ChristianaCares Union hospital in Elkton. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
It wasn’t until rozenski’s autopsy at the Maryland Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore that the fatal gunshot wound was discovered. “The ME found a gunshot wound to his right side and ruled his death a homicide,” Odom said, adding that the bullet had severed an artery.
Through a combination of canvassing Hollingsworth Manor for security-camera footage and witness interviews, EPD detectives were able to quickly identify [Suspect’s Full Name] as the prime suspect.
While [Suspect’s Full Name] is now in custody, the examination remains ongoing. Lieutenant Ronald Odom, a detective and spokesperson for the Elkton police Department (EPD), confirmed that [Suspect’s Full Name] is scheduled to be brought back to Maryland next week.
According to police,Rozenski was shot and robbed by [Suspect’s Full Name] on a Hollingsworth Manor street in the early morning hours of November 2nd.
