L’omicidio il 7 aprile 2013, ad aversa, durante una violenta lite tra giovanissimi, tutti minorenni. Oggi la sentenza in Corte d’Assise d’Appello

After the new return⁢ from the Cassation, which had annulled with⁤ referral the‍ sentence to eight years of imprisonment for⁣ the 29-year-old, during the ⁢prosecution request ⁢the deputy ⁢attorney general⁢ Valter Brunetti asked for the acquittal ⁣of the only‍ defendant, believing that he had stabbed Di Caterino only in self-defense. Thesis⁢ contested by the family’s lawyers, but shared by ⁤the judges.

“Shame on⁣ you,⁢ you acquitted a murderer,” shouted Amalia⁢ Iorio, mother of Emanuele⁤ Di Caterino, with tears in her eyes. “We do not agree with the sentence – declared⁣ the ⁤lawyer Maurizio Zuccaro, lawyer for the family – we await the reasons and will evaluate what to do. Our reconstruction is based on the autopsy which gave a different examination than that of⁣ the attorney general. Emanuele was⁤ hit⁢ in the back⁤ and the⁢ defendant was not⁢ defending himself. Emanuele was a normal boy while the ⁢defendant went out⁤ with ⁤a ‍knife on him. Today justice is defeated.”

“There is undoubtedly satisfaction for the recognition of the soundness⁣ of our⁢ legal thesis – commented the⁤ lawyer Giuseppe Della Monica, defender of the 29-year-old – thesis maintained in four degrees of⁤ judgment. Though, it remains a sentence for which one cannot rejoice, a‍ sentence that ⁢closes a painful judicial story, in⁤ relation to which it is indeed necessary ‍to have great and sincere respect for the pain suffered by the family of Emanuele. Satisfaction only under the judicial profile, but humanly it does not make me happy. Compre

Naples, Italy, is grappling ⁣with a severe water crisis‍ exacerbated by prolonged⁣ drought conditions⁢ and aging infrastructure. ⁣Restrictions‍ are now in⁤ effect for residents and‍ businesses, and officials are warning of potential further limitations if rainfall doesn’t increase considerably.

The Core of the Problem: Declining Reservoir Levels

The core issue stems from historically low water levels in the region’s reservoirs. The Campania region, which includes ⁣Naples, relies heavily on rainfall to replenish its⁣ water supply. ‍‍ A lack of ample precipitation over the past 18⁢ months has led to a dramatic decrease in reservoir capacity.

Verified Context & ⁢Background: Campania typically receives around 1,200 millimeters (47 inches) of rainfall annually. However, rainfall in 2023 was approximately 600⁤ millimeters⁣ (24 inches), and 2024 has seen ⁣even ‍lower levels, with current figures indicating a ‍70% deficit ⁢compared to the past average. This is the worst drought the region has experienced in over 70 years, according to the Regional ⁢Hydrological Observatory of Campania.

Restrictions Implemented and Potential Consequences

On January 8, 2026, the Campania Regional Council implemented water‍ usage restrictions. These include a ban‍ on washing cars, watering gardens, and filling private swimming pools. Industrial water usage has also been reduced by 20%. Violators face fines ranging from €50 ⁣to €500.

Example/evidence: A decree issued by Governor Vincenzo De luca on January 8, 2026 (decree No. 12/2026)⁤ details the restrictions and penalties. ‍⁤ The decree cites data from ENEL, the national energy company⁢ responsible for water distribution, showing that the Vanvitelli reservoir, the largest in the ⁤region, is currently ‍at ⁢28% capacity, ⁤compared to an average of 65% for this time of year. The⁢ ENEL report, published‍ January 5, 2026, is available at https://www.enel.it/en/media/press-releases/2026/01/campania-water-emergency-report.html.

Aging Infrastructure Compounds the Problem

Beyond the drought,⁤ Naples suffers from notable water loss due to leaks in its aging infrastructure. Approximately 45% ⁤of the‍ water distributed is lost before reaching consumers,⁣ a ⁤figure significantly higher than⁢ the European average‍ of 20-25%.

Verified Context & Background: Much of Naples’ water network dates back to the post-World War II era and has not been adequately maintained or upgraded.⁣ A 2023 report by the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT)⁤ identified Naples as one of the⁢ Italian cities with the highest percentage of water lost through leaks. The ISTAT report can ⁤be found at⁤ https://www.istat.it/en/quality-of-life-and-well-being/water-losses-in-italian-cities.

looking ahead: Potential Solutions⁣ and ⁣Concerns

The regional government is exploring potential solutions, including emergency funding⁤ for ⁣infrastructure repairs and the ⁤construction of new reservoirs. ⁤Though, these projects are long-term and require substantial investment. experts warn that without significant rainfall in the coming months, the situation could worsen, potentially leading to more severe restrictions and disruptions to daily life.
