Thiruvananthapuram: An emergency meeting will be convened today under the leadership of the Health Minister against the backdrop of the spread of Kovid disease in the state. Restrictions are likely to be tightened as the test positivity rate (TPR) rises. The health minister had said yesterday that the next four weeks were crucial and that more vigilance was needed.

The Department of Health is of the opinion that there is no need to go back to the lockdown. But local regulations may be tightened. There may also be talk of resuming the weekend lockdown. The final decision will be taken at a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The Department of Health has taken special precautionary measures as children have not been vaccinated.

490 oxygen-equipped pediatric beds, 158 HDU. A total of 744 beds, including 96 ICU beds, will be set up for children. The government aims to prevent the spread of the disease by increasing the number of tests and vaccinating as many people as possible.
