Liverpool’s hopes of winning the English Premier League title suffered a major setback after losing to its host Everton with two unanswered goals in the Merseyside derby in the postponed 29th stage.
Everton’s goals were scored by Jarrad Branthwaite (27th) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (58th).
The remaining matches of the stage, which were held today, resulted in Bournemouth defeating its host Wolverhampton with a clean goal, Crystal Palace defeating its guest Newcastle United with two unanswered goals, and Manchester United defeating Sheffield United 4-2.
The loss is considered harsh for Liverpool’s hopes of achieving the title in the final season of its German coach Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, as it is now 3 points behind leaders Arsenal after its landslide 5-0 win over Chelsea the day before Tuesday, while it is one point ahead of defending champion Manchester City with… Two fewer matches, one of which will be played against host Brighton on Thursday.

If Spanish coach Pep Guardiola’s men win, Liverpool will fall to third place after suffering its third loss in the last 5 matches in various competitions.
Liverpool was keen to maintain its hopes of winning the title after its disappointing exit from the quarter-finals of the European League (Europa League), in which it was a strong candidate to win the title, in addition to its exit from the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Benjamin Brereton restored Sheffield’s lead again, by scoring the visitors’ second goal in the 50th minute, but Portuguese Bruno Fernandes equalized for United in the 61st minute from a penalty kick.
Fernandes returned to score again, scoring United’s third goal and his second personal goal in the 81st minute, while Rasmus Hoylund scored the fourth goal in the 85th minute.
Manchester United, which is ecstatic to have qualified for the final match in the FA Cup this season recently, rose to 53 points in sixth place.
On the other hand, Sheffield’s balance stopped at 16 points, remaining at the bottom of the standings, and on the verge of relegation to the First Division (Championship), as it was 10 points behind the safety positions, before playing its last four matches in the competition this season.
