The Russians mobilized during last year’s autumn campaign died in Ukraine after an average of 4.5 months, and every fifth one did not live at the front for even two months. These research results were published by the Russian investigative project “Important Stories” together with the volunteer movement Conflict Intelligence Team.

Last year, as a result of the “share mobilization” announced by Putin, more than 300 thousand Russians were mobilized. One in five of them died less than two months after receiving the summons, and on average they died in 4.5 months in the war.

As the publication notes, the life expectancy after mobilization and sending to the front was affected by the intensity of hostilities. More losses occurred in the fall of 2022 and spring of 2023.

“Some of them ended up in the meat grinder in the fall in the area of Svatovoye and Kremennaya, where [российскому военному руководству] there was an urgent need to close the breakthrough [ВСУ]. At first [мобилизованными] they plugged holes in order to immediately prevent the collapse of the front and saturate it with manpower. The record from agenda to grave is just a few days,” explained CIT.

Only a few survived more than 11 months after mobilization. The publication counted less than a dozen of them.

Most of the Russian conscripts were between 30 and 45 years old, although there were exceptions at the age of 19 or 62. In total, every tenth mobilized Russian who died was under 25 years of age.

Let us recall that the Institute for the Study of War, citing sources, reported that in the inner circle of the Russian leadership, opinions are again actively differing on the need for and preparation for the second wave of mobilization on the eve of the six-month autumn conscription.

However, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that from 90 to 100 thousand citizens were mobilized in Russia this year, but they will no longer announce a large-scale mobilization there. At least until the presidential elections in March 2024.
