OCOP Products Take Center Stage
The province currently boasts 240 products recognized under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme with ratings of 3 to 5 stars. This figure represents 200% of the province’s target for OCOP product development between 2019 and 2025. The breakdown includes 155 three-star products, 83 four-star products, and two five-star products at the national level.
Tea products, a staple of thai Nguyen, account for 154 of the OCOP offerings. Other categories include 41 processed foods such as vermicelli and dried meats, 44 spices and beverages, handicrafts, clothing, fresh foods, and even a tourism service product.
Evaluations suggest that OCOP designation has increased the economic value of each product by more than 20%. However, many producers remain small-scale, lacking strong market connections and broad customer recognition.

To address these challenges, the Thai Nguyen People’s committee has directed relevant departments to integrate information technology into advertising and trade promotion efforts.The focus is on utilizing social networking and e-commerce platforms to drive the development of OCOP products.
