According to the Korean Embassy in Indonesia on the 23rd (local time), a total of 21 Koreans live in Qianjurwa, West Java, Indonesia, where a magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred on the 21st (local time), and no one was found to be injured by the earthquake. .

However, one of the six factories run by Korean residents partially collapsed, resulting in loss of life and property, including the death of a local worker working in the factory.

The RF Hitech Indonesia factory, run by a Korean resident named Noh, has been operating in Qianjur since 2005 as a workshop that assembles wireless electronic components for export to the United States.

The earthquake collapsed part of the factory ceiling, as well as the material warehouse and the entrance to the office. Around 500 people were working in the factory at the time of the accident, and one local worker working in the material warehouse was killed and around 20 others were injured in the accident.

The work is currently closed and will be subject to a building safety inspection.

Mr Roh said, “If the factory wall had collapsed, more people would have been seriously injured.”

In addition to the factory Mr. Roh, the other 5 factories were said to be operating normally as there was no major damage.

On the 21st, a magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred in Qianzur. According to the Indonesian government, the earthquake killed 268 people and left 151 missing from the 22nd in 12 regions, including Qianjur. Of the dead, only 122 have been identified.

In addition, 1,083 people were injured and 22,198 houses were damaged, leaving more than 58,000 people displaced.
