On September 7, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon prepare to face the Brave Warriors of Namibia in their first match for the Morocco 2025 CAN qualifiers.
The Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) announced that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has finally validated the Roumdé Adjia stadium in Garoua to host this clash, previously planned in Douala.
In a correspondence dated August 27, the general secretary of Fecafoot, Blaise Djounang, told François Félix Ewane, the administrator of the Cameroon National Office of Sports Infrastructure and Equipment (Onies), that CAF had agreed to relocate the meeting. . In this letter, it is stated that the competent authorities must take all necessary steps to guarantee proper organization for this long-awaited match.
This decision by CAF follows a previous correspondence sent on August 26 by Fecafoot to the Minister of Sports and Physical Education (Minsep), Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. In this letter, Fecafoot stated that CAF favors the Garoua stadium after seeing images of the infrastructure in question, especially those of Roumdé Adjia and the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé.
However, the debate on the final choice of stadium is far from over. Although Fecafoot shows his satisfaction with CAF’s approval, Minsep and Onies continue to favor the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium, even noting that Garoua is not available for this meeting.
Despite these tensions, Fecafoot does not seem willing to wait for a response from Onies or Minsep to move forward. In its correspondence with Minsep, the federation noted that executive services had already begun to operate. The summons of players and members of management have been updated, accommodation has been reserved, and flight plans have been adjusted to ensure that the teams are transported to Garoua.
