Simone resta Joins Mercedes as Deputy Technical Director

Simone Resta,formerly with Ferrari,has taken on the role of deputy technical director at Mercedes,marking his first foray into gardening in 23 years. The move, announced last March, sees Resta joining from Maranello after a stint at Haas.
Resta’s start date at Mercedes was in October.His role places him under James Allison, Mercedes’ technical director, reuniting the pair who previously collaborated at Ferrari during Allison’s time there.
Allison moved to Ferrari in 2000 as a trackside aerodynamicist. The Mercedes Formula 1 team and ferrari reached an agreement last summer regarding the gardening leave period of Loic Serra,the performance director recruited by Ferrari from Mercedes in mid-2023. Initially, Mercedes intended to keep Serra on gardening leave until his contract expired this past January.
Both men assumed thier new positions last October. Allison reportedly holds Resta in high regard. Resta saeid he focuses on overall car advancement and new tech integration, while Allison leads design and aerodynamics.
Resta said he and Allison have a great working relationship and divide tasks efficiently. He added that their past experience at Ferrari gives them a strong base, and they know how to work together to tackle any challenge.
Resta said he and Allison first met in the early 2000s, when Resta oversaw the mechanical aspects at Ferrari and Allison handled track aerodynamics.
