Ferry Sinks in Philippines: At Least 15 Dead

A ⁤ferry ​carrying⁣ more than 350 people capsized off the southern Philippine province of Basilan,leaving at least 15⁣ people dead,officials said.

The accident happened after‍ midnight on Monday as ⁣the passenger vessel, MV Trisha Kerstin 3, traveled to Jolo Island in southern Sulu from the port city of Zamboanga.

The ship carried 332 passengers ⁢and 27 crew members. It ​sent a distress signal at 1:50 a.m. Monday (17:50 GMT ​sunday), according to the coast guard.

As of Tuesday, authorities have rescued at least 316 people, but 28 remain missing. Rescue operations are ‍ongoing.
