FIFA World Cup: Mowasalat to operate 4000 buses during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

Doha: Qatar’s public transport agency, Karwa, or Muwasalat, has announced that it will put 4,000 buses on the road to provide better transport facilities for the hundreds of thousands of football fans coming to the FIFA World Cup , including to stadiums and fan villages.

2300 buses only for the World Cup

The authorities have sent 2300 buses only for the World Cup. This also includes 4000 buses. Khalid Kafud, Karva’s director of public relations and communications, said these will help bring visitors to different stadiums. He said in an interview to Qatar Radio that more than 2,000 taxis have been prepared for football fans. 2100 taxis will operate in Qatar during the World Cup, including 1300 cars from the low-cost Curva-Fox taxi system operated in partnership with Fox Transport. He also said that taxi services can be provided at very minimal cost through Karva Taxi app.

Apart from this, 1600 hybrid buses with smoke free diesel engines have also been put on the road for the World Cup. These are buses with Euro-6 engines supported by RW technology. Fully operational at all electric charging stations in the country. Fast charging facilities are also provided in many places. Through this, the Qatar World Cup will be the biggest eco-friendly tournament, he said.

New buses from October 1

Preparations for the CoCup have been in the works for years. Major preparations have already been made for the provision of electric and hybrid buses and training for them. He also said that the test run of the buses had been successfully completed on 21 and 22 September. In the experiment, 2300 buses were operated on 80 routes. He also said that 90 new electric minibuses suitable for small roads in residential areas have also been launched on turning roads. He said these services will start from October 1.
