Former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin dies aged 96

AFP reports On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, former Chinese president Jiang Zemin has died at the age of 96, according to Xinhua news agency.

Jiang Zemin comes to power after clashes on Tiananmen Square. and lead the world’s most populous country to become a superpower on the world stage.

“Jiang Zemin is suffering from multiple organ failure. and died of leukemia in Shanghai at 12:13 noon on November 30, 2022 at the age of 96,” Xinhua News Agency reported.

When Jiang Zemin replaced Deng Xiaoping as leader in 1989, China was still in the early stages of its economic modernization. And by the time he retired from the presidency in 2003, China had become a member of the World Trade Organization, Beijing had hosted the Olympic Games in 2008 and China had begun to fully mature into superpower status.
