Former President Roh Tae-woo’s funeral at Olympic Park… Yeonhui-dongseo Noje

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Yeon-jung = The funeral ceremony of the late former President Roh Tae-woo will be held at 11 am on the 30th at the Olympic Park Peace Plaza in Songpa-gu, Seoul as the national head of state.

The funeral will be attended by no more than 50 people, including Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom, who chaired the funeral, Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of the Interior and Safety, who served as chairman of the funeral execution committee, as well as bereaved relatives and relatives, members of the funeral committee, key national figures, and diplomatic missions in Korea. .

The government decided to minimize the number of people attending the funeral in consideration of the deceased’s wishes for a frugal funeral and the COVID-19 situation. Instead, it will be broadcast live on TV and YouTube.

The funeral will be held at the funeral home of Seoul National University Hospital at 9 am.

The remains of the deceased are immediately moved to Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, where Roh stayed until just before his death. From 9:30 a.m., there will be a noje ceremony in front of the house, centered on the bereaved family.

Then, when Ungu moves to the Olympic Park Peace Plaza in Songpa-gu, a funeral ceremony will be held for about an hour.

Announcer Son Beom-soo hosts the show. The memorial service was held by former Prime Minister Roh Jae-bong.

Singer Insoon-i and tenor Im Woong-gyun sang ‘Hand in Hand’, the theme song for the 1988 Seoul Olympics as a tribute. ‘Hand in Hand’ is the official theme song of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, which is evaluated as contributing to the successful hosting of the deceased.

As the head of state, he honors the soul through four major religious ceremonies: Buddhism, Christianity, Catholicism, and Won Buddhism.

After the funeral, cremation procedures are held at Seoul Memorial Park in Seocho-gu at 1:50 pm, and the remains of the deceased are temporarily placed at Geomdansa Temple in Paju at 4:30 pm.

This is due to the delay in burial consultation, and the bereaved family is considering a plan to re-buried near the Unification Garden in Paju after the cemetery was built.

Meanwhile, the section from Seoul National University Hospital through Yeonhui-dong to Olympic Park and from Olympic Park through Seoul Memorial Park to Geomdansa Temple in Paju are controlled sequentially in the morning and afternoon according to the passage of the ungu procession, respectively.
