Four Cases Filed Against Presidential Debate on People’s Livelihood

Photo = Yonhap News Woo Jong-soo, head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, said on the 29th: “We decided that it was necessary to investigate” the stalking complaint filed by President Yoon Seok-yeol’s wife, Kim Kun-hee.

During this day’s regular press conference, director Woo responded to the question of whether it would be difficult to accuse Pastor Jae-young Choi, who secretly filmed the scene of him handing a luxury bag to Ms. Kim, of stalking, saying: ” We have reviewed the legal principles.” When asked what the specific meaning of legal scrutiny was, Director Woo responded: “We have not looked at whether it constitutes stalking or not, and you can see that that means it is not a requirement for dismissal.” As for whether the victim should be investigated, Ms Kim said: “We are not at that stage yet” and “We are currently analyzing the actions and frequency of videos and screenshots uploaded.”

Previously, in January, a conservative group reported Pastor Choi to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, demanding that he be punished for violating the Stalking Punishment Law. The Seoul Seocho Police Station investigated the accuser after receiving the case from the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

It turns out that four complaints have been filed so far that President Yoon’s holding of the People’s Livelihood Debate constitutes a violation of the Public Official Elections Law. Director Woo said, “The Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Public Crime Investigation Unit is investigating and has completed its investigation into the accuser,” and added, “We plan to proceed with the necessary procedures, including a review of the principles legal, in the future”.
