France Erupts in Fury: Thousands Take to the Streets to Protest New Prime Minister
Macron Appoints Conservative Prime Minister, Sparking Protests Across France
Thousands of people take to the streets to express their discontent with the appointment of Michel Barnier as prime minister.
Left-Wing Supporters Feel Betrayed
The extreme left-wing party La France Insoumise is leading the protests, dissatisfied that President Emmanuel Macron did not commission the left-wing camp to form a government despite their victory in the parliamentary elections.
Nationwide Protests Expected
According to media reports, the authorities expect around 15,000 demonstrators in over 100 cities across the country, including Bordeaux, Paris, and Nantes.
Difficult Political Situation in France
The left-wing alliance emerged victorious in the early parliamentary election nearly two months ago, ahead of Macron’s center camp and Marine Le Pen’s right-wing National Rally in third place. However, the left-wing alliance did not get an absolute majority, and the parties have not managed to form a coalition capable of governing in recent weeks.
