Information to protect yourself from landslides

Heavy rain can cause landslides. To protect yourself from landslides, check out these two pieces of information:

The first is to check if the place where you live (where you are now) is prone to landslides. If you look at the homepage of the assumptions or the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and see “Landslide Warning Areas” or “Landslide Danger Areas”, there is a risk of landslides. However, even if it is not a sediment-related disaster warning area, you need to be careful if there is a “cliff” nearby.

The second is to check rain information. If you look at the rain cloud radar on your computer or smartphone, you can check the condition of the rain clouds, and on the website of the Japan Meteorological Agency, etc., not only information on “how much it rained”, but also “landslide warning information” in be published. I know where. When landslide warning information is issued, get out to a safe place, paying particular attention to the issuance of evacuation orders by local governments.

A premonition of a landslide disaster

When a landslide disaster occurs due to heavy rain, there is a precursor phenomenon. Remember to keep this in case of emergency.

The first is that cracks can form in cliffs and land.
The second is hearing the crackling of wood, the clash of stones, and the smell of earth.
The third is that the water in springs, rivers, and wells becomes cloudy. Even if the well water runs out, it is one of the harbingers.
The fourth is that water originates out of cliffs and slopes.

In addition, there are pebbles falling apart, rumbling on the ground and rumbling on the mountains, the water level of the rivers dropping even though it is still raining, and trees leaning. At times like this, the risk of landslide disasters increases. Call out to people around you immediately and move to a safe place.
